Moran Blind School at Assam – India

Moran blind school was started in the 1970’s and has now grown into a proper full-fledged residential school for Blind children in and around the area. The children come from extremely poor families who can ill afford to take care of them. The school offers free boarding, schooling and food for all its students.

My visit to the school took me by surprise and pleasantly so. It is by far one of the most well equipped and managed schools I have come across.

There are about 65 blind students, both boys and girls. They study together but live in separate dorms well away from each other. They are taught in the school and take the state/ central board exams as necessary. The atmosphere in the school is one of happiness, positivity and hope.

Moran Blind school will continue to be a part of our long-term projects. We intend to ensure that there is no lack of funding for the upkeep & maintenance of the school and perhaps to build more facilities and keep the hope alive for the many more children who will be its residents in future.
